IISER 2023 Applications Close 25 May For KVPY and SCB Mode

Applications for admission in IISERs through the KVPY and SCB mode are ongoing and shall close on 25 May. Applications for admission through the third mode (JEE-Adv) are expected to start on 25 Jun 2023.

Programs offered

(1) 5-Year BS-MS Integrated Dual Degree Program and

(2) 4-Year BS in Economics and Engineering Sciences (only in Bhopal campus)

To promote high quality scientific education, research and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.  The IISERs offer wonderful opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students seeking fulfilling science-based careers. Students can learn the basic sciences through a detailed program and, in parallel, work on cutting-edge research alongside exceptional faculty members. Each IISER is an autonomous institution which awards the degrees.

BS (Engineering Sciences) - 60

Mode of Selection (For Indian Nationals, PIO or OCI candidates):

a) Mode 1: Through Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel

KVPY-SA-2021 students who have received the provisional KVPY fellowship award are eligible to apply for admissions.

Candidates in the extended KVPY merit list are not eligible.

Candidates seeking admission under this channel DO NOT have to appear for IAT-2023.

b) Mode 2:  Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE-Advanced) of Indian Institutes of Technology (JEE) channel 

Candidates seeking admission under JEE channel should have qualified in the JEE (Advanced) in the year 2023, AND should have a rank within 15000 in the common rank list or in the respective category rank lists (GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD).

Those who qualified JEE (Advanced) in any year other than 2023 are not eligible.

Candidates with JEE (Advanced) preparatory ranks are not eligible.

Candidates seeking admission under this channel DO NOT have to appear for IAT-2023.

c) Mode 3: IAT (IISER Aptitude Test) channel - Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in 2022 or 2023are eligible to apply in this (IISER aptitude test IAT will need to be taken).

Note:

- Following the judgement dated 03 February 2023, of the Honourable Supreme Court in Writ Petition (civil) 891/2021, OCI/PIO card holders shall be considered as Indian Nationals. They can apply via any of the three admission channels provided they satisfy other eligibility criteria. They shall be eligible to compete for seats in the General category.

- Max 25% seats through KVPY and JEE channels. Remaining seats are filled through the SCB channel based on the merit in the IISER aptitude test. Unfilled seats from KVPY and JEE channels will be added to the SCB channel for allotment.

Foreign nationals: Candidates who are not citizens of India AND do not hold OCI/PIO card shall be considered foreign nationals. They can apply only through the JEE (Advanced) channel provided they satisfy other eligibility criteria.
